Working in the Danish Game Industry
My passion for video games led me in 1999 to pursue a career in the gaming industry. Not that there really was much of a gaming industry in Denmark back then. But I had the good fortune of getting a job with Deadline Games , a video game developer that sadly is no more. Back then Deadline Games and IO Interactive (creators of the Hitman games) were really the only two companies in Denmark who made video games for adults with high production value. It was an incredibly exciting time to be working in the budding games industry and I am glad to have worked for Deadline Games on title releases such as Englen, Globetrotter, Globetrotter 2, Mistænkt and Jens Marius.
Deadline Games was hit hard my the financial it crisis when the dot com bubble burst in 2001. The company was reduced to a skeleton crew while everyone else had to be let go, including myself. It was like a heartbreaking sundering of a family for the job and the people had been everything to everyone working there.
